The instructions are short and clear enough for a child to follow without you.

1. Messy Little Monster (preschool · free) — Louise, a mother of three and an early years teacher, makes it. This is the messy-play one.

Plenty of squishing, smearing and hands-in-it activities for younger children. The printables are free.

1. Babble Dabble Do (primary · free) — Ana Dziengel trained in architecture and industrial design, and it shows — a lot of what you make here stands up and holds together.

Good for an older child who wants to know why it works.

1. Deep Space Sparkle (primary · free) — This is the painting one. Patty Palmer teaches it the way an art teacher would, in proper lessons.

Are these channels free?

Every channel here is free to watch on YouTube. It is YouTube, so ads run. A few of them also sell an app or a membership separately, which is a different thing from the channel — where that applies, it is noted with the channel.

What ages are they for?

It is noted with each channel. Fewer channels state an age than you would expect — where the makers do not say, this guide says so. Watching a few minutes together is still the most accurate way to decide.
